Set the anchor.<\/strong> Let the fly land on the water 10-12 feet in front of you. Do not strip it in. The line lying on the surface is your anchor - it loads the rod on the forward stroke.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:12px;\"><strong>2. Slow lift.<\/strong> Raise the rod tip back slowly - no jerk, no hurry - until your hand is at shoulder level and the rod is angled back. Forward stroke, stop high.<\/strong> Drive forward with the same short stroke as always - thumb on top, squeeze at the stop.
