This is the shared anchor between this calendar and
Site Architecture Review.md§7. Every week number in either document resolves against it. If either document re-times, both must be re-checked together.
Week Week beginning Migration milestone Publishing consequence Week 0 Aug 31, 2026 Phase 0 β baseline only Nothing publishes Weeks 1β2 Sep 7 / Sep 14 /journal+ 4 category pages live Fri Sep 18Nothing publishes β there is nowhere to publish to Weeks 3β4 Sep 21 / Sep 28 Nav restructure, URLs frozen Posts #1 and #2 Week 5 Oct 5 Tranche A Post #3 Week 6 Oct 12 Tranche A2 β /methodgoes livePost #4 Weeks 7β8 Oct 19 / Oct 26 Tranche B Post #5 (cornerstone), Post #6 Week 9 Nov 2 Tranche C β /castinglessonsPost #7 Week 10 Nov 9 Tranche D β /guidedtrips, lastPost #8 Two corrections this anchor forced, both applied below:
1. Post #1 moved from Tue Sep 1 β Tue Sep 22, 2026./journaldoes not exist until Fri Sep 18. Publishing on Sep 1 meant publishing to a URL that had not been built. September now carries two posts, not three β which is whatSite Architecture Review.mdPhase 1.7 always said ("publish the first 2 posts"). Posts #2 and #3 shift with it; October absorbs the third slot and carries four. The Q1 total is unchanged at 9 posts.
2. The cornerstone (#5) keeps its Tue Oct 20 date, because/methodwas pulled forward./methodpreviously landed in Tranche D (Week 9, early November) β two weeks after the post that names it as a hard dependency. It now ships in Tranche A2, week of Oct 12, ahead of the post. SeeSite Architecture Review.mdΒ§7.Interim internal-link rule. Posts #1β#4 publish before or during the
/methodmigration. They must link the Method hub as/about-the-scienceβ its live URL at the time β not/method. The Phase 4.2 internal-link sweep inSite Architecture Review.mdrewrites those anchors after the 301 lands. Do not publish a link to a URL that does not yet resolve.Note on inputs: This calendar was drafted before
Keyword Research.mdwas available and has since been reconciled against it β see Β§9 for the pillar-to-cluster mapping, the six keyword adjustments to apply at drafting time, and the page dependencies that must ship before posting begins. Competition tiers in Β§4 are strategic estimates; whereKeyword Research.mdgives a difficulty score, that document wins. The pillar structure, sequencing, and seasonal timing are unchanged β those are driven by the fishing calendar and the sales calendar, not by volume.
Trout Psychology's most valuable asset β the Method β currently lives in Kristen's head and in Instagram reels that vanish from the feed in 48 hours. There is no durable, indexable, citable version of it. Meanwhile Red's Fly Shop owns the Yakima content space regionally and Orvis owns "how to learn fly fishing" nationally.
This calendar does three jobs simultaneously:
/method, that make the behavior-analytic argument in public, in text, in a form Google and AI answer engines can quote.A two-instructor guiding business publishing four posts a month during peak season will miss weeks and quietly stop. Three is achievable, hits 36 posts (enough to build genuine cluster depth in four pillars), and leaves a fourth slot free each month for a timely piece β a hatch report, a flow event, a podcast appearance β without breaking the plan. Consistency beats volume for topical authority. If capacity turns out to be higher, add the fourth slot as reactive/timely content rather than adding a fifth evergreen post.
No competitor in fly fishing education is running credentialed behavior-analytic pedagogy. Red's has more content; Orvis has more authority. Neither can write these posts. Every piece below should contain at least one paragraph that only Trout Psychology could have written β the why behind the behavior, stated in the language of learning theory. That is the moat, and it is what makes the content citable rather than merely present.
| Quarter | Posts live | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 β SepβNov 2026 | 9 | Indexation and baseline. Little ranking movement β this is normal. Early wins on long-tail Yakima queries and zero-competition Method terms. Instagram-to-blog referral becomes measurable. |
| Q2 β DecβFeb 2027 | 18 | Winter search intent (planning, learning, gifts) meets the virtual-lesson product. First page-1 rankings on long-tail. Email list becomes a real asset. Method cluster starts getting cited/linked. |
| Q3 β MarβMay 2027 | 27 | The revenue quarter. Booking-season traffic lands on posts published JanβMar with booking CTAs. Yakima cluster should be competing on hatch and seasonal queries. |
| Q4 β JunβAug 2027 | 36 | Full cluster depth. /method should be the strongest page on the site and the natural citation target for "behavioral science fly fishing." Enter fall 2027 with a year of compounding content instead of a standing start. |
| Window | River reality | What we sell | Content posture |
|---|---|---|---|
| SepβNov | Flip-flop flows drop; prime streamer season; October caddis; fall BWO | Streamer trips, Streamer Stomp, late-season guided days | Aggressive, technique-forward, urgency |
| DecβFeb | Cold, limited fishing; the planning window | Virtual casting lessons ($250/mo), gift certificates, next-season deposits | Educational, indoor, geography-independent β this is where the scalable product gets sold |
| MarβMay | Skwala, March Brown, BWO, Mother's Day caddis, then runoff | Guided trips (booking season), casting camp, schools | Booking-oriented, hatch-timed, beginner-welcoming |
| JunβAug | Post-runoff, PMD/caddis, summer tailwater flows, hoppers, heat | Group retreats, dry fly trips, schools | Immersive, ethics-forward, dry-fly-led (Nate) |
Timing rule: hatch-and-season posts publish 2β4 weeks before the window opens, so they are indexed and ranking when people search. The Skwala post goes out Feb 23 for a hatch that starts in March. The gift post goes out Dec 15, not Dec 22.
The authority engine. This is the pillar the whole engagement exists for.

| Core argument | Trout are organisms that follow the same laws of learning. So are anglers. Both can be taught deliberately. |
| Topic territory | Trout behavior as conditioning Β· why fish refuse Β· task analysis and shaping applied to casting Β· positive reinforcement in instruction Β· strategy blueprints Β· river journaling Β· the vocabulary of the Method |
| Competition | Effectively none. Nobody else can write these. |
| Primary funnel role | TOFU/MOFU β attracts, then converts belief |
| Success metric | /method becomes the most-linked and most-cited page on the site |
The local SEO beachhead.
| Hub page | /trips/yakima-river-guided-trips |

| Core argument | We fish this water constantly and we understand why it behaves the way it does. |
| Topic territory | Flip-flop flows Β· month-by-month seasonal guide Β· hatch-specific posts (October caddis, Skwala, March Brown, Mother's Day caddis) Β· winter fishability Β· summer tailwater flows Β· low-and-clear late summer |
| Competition | High. Red's Fly Shop is dominant with a large content library. |
| How we win anyway | Not by out-publishing Red's. By being the only Yakima content that explains fish behavior rather than reporting conditions. A Red's post says the caddis are on; ours says why the fish are positioned where they are and what that means for your drift. |
| Primary funnel role | TOFU β BOFU (local intent converts fastest) |
The proof-of-competence pillar. Split by instructor specialty.
| Hub pages | /trips/streamer-fishing-trips, /trips/dry-fly-trips, /learn/streamer-stomp |
| Journal category | /journal/technique |
| Posts this year | 9 (5 streamer/general β Kristen Β· 4 dry fly/presentation β Nate) |
| Core argument | Here is the actual mechanic, and here is the reasoning underneath it β because you learn the reasoning, not just the motion. |
| Topic territory | Kristen/streamers: retrieves, cold-water streamer tactics, high-water streamers, leader/tippet. Nate/dry flies: drag-free drift, hopper presentation, March Browns. Shared: reading water, beginner casting, off-season drills |
| Competition | Mediumβhigh nationally (Gink & Gasoline, Galloup, Orvis) |
| How we win | Byline the specialist. Author attribution is E-E-A-T and it is also just true β Kristen's streamer credibility and Nate's dry-fly credibility are real and should be visible. |
| Primary funnel role | MOFU β the "these people know things" pillar |
The differentiation pillar. The one nobody else in this space will touch honestly.
| Hub pages | /method/neurodiversity-informed-instruction, /about/kristen-bufe, /trips/group-retreats |
| Journal category | /journal/the-human-side |
| Posts this year | 9 |
| Core argument | Who gets to learn this, how they are taught, and what it does to them. Joy is a pedagogical tool, not a garnish. |
| Topic territory | Women in fly fishing Β· neurodivergent-friendly instruction Β· mental health and the outdoors Β· fishing ethics and trout welfare Β· learning as an adult Β· bringing a beginner Β· what an immersive retreat actually does |
| Competition | Low, and the audience is underserved. |
| Strategic note | This pillar is the PR and backlink engine. These are the posts that get shared, quoted in podcasts, and picked up by outlets like The Fly Fish Journal. It is also the pillar most likely to reach people who have never considered a guided trip. Kristen already speaks publicly on this β the content should feed and be fed by her speaking. |

Month's job: publish the cornerstone Method post while traffic is at its seasonal peak.
π October absorbs the September slot and runs four posts: #3 (Oct 6), #4 (Oct 13), #5 cornerstone (Oct 20), #6 (Oct 27). This is a deliberate one-month exception to the 3-per-month cadence, caused by the launch ramp, not a change of cadence.

Concrete, not vague: predictable session structure, task analysis, low sensory load, 3:1 ratio, explicit criteria, no surprise transitions. Make the ratio argument concretely in minutes: in a 3:1 session a student gets ~20 minutes of individual correction per hour; at 10:1 they get six. | Repurpose | IG reel: thermometer reading 68Β°F, then reeling up and walking away β powerful, quotable, will be reshared by other guides Β· YouTube: short PSA Β· Email: community send with links to real-time WA temperature data |
| Angle | The highest link-acquisition post of Q4. Conservation and welfare content earns links from other guides, shops, and state resources in a way promotional content never does. Specific numbers, real thresholds, actual WA hoot-owl rules, honest mortality data. A business that tells you not to fish today is a business you trust with your money in October. |

Each post feeds three channels on a fixed schedule. This is not optional extra work β Instagram is currently the strongest brand asset and the blog needs it as a distribution engine while organic rankings build.
| Day | Channel | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Tue (publish day) | Blog | Post goes live. Add to /journal and its category. Add internal links from the 2β3 sibling posts named above. |
| Tue | Instagram Stories | 3-frame teaser + link sticker |
| Wed | Send to list. Winter (DecβFeb) sends are the highest-converting of the year β that is the virtual-lessons window. | |
| Thu | Instagram Reel/Carousel | The reel or carousel named in the post's Repurpose field. Caption ends with the post's one-sentence thesis + link in bio. |
| Following Tue | YouTube | The video named in the post's Repurpose field. Description links to the post. |
| +4 weeks | Re-share the best-performing frame as a story with a fresh hook |
The rule that makes this work: the blog post is written first and everything else is cut from it. Not the reverse. Right now the reasoning lives in reels and disappears; the point of this calendar is that the durable version exists first, and social becomes the distribution layer for an asset that persists.
Reel-to-post priority β the six most likely to drive real traffic:
β οΈ DIRECTIONAL TARGETS β NOT A FORECAST
Nothing in this table is a measurement, a projection, or a promise. These are planning assumptions written before any Search Console data existed, and they must not be quoted in a client-facing forecast, a traffic model, a revenue projection, or a proposal.
Keyword Research.mdΒ§1 sets this rule for the whole engagement β "These bands are estimates, not measurementsβ¦ Do not put them in a client-facing forecast, a traffic model, or a revenue projection" β and this table is bound by it.Derivation, stated so it can be argued with. The session figures are not built up from keyword volumes, because no validated volumes exist for this niche β
Keyword Research.mdrefuses to invent them, correctly. They are a simple compounding assumption instead: a new site publishing 3 well-targeted posts a month, starting from zero indexed blog content and zero baseline, with long-tail and near-zero-competition Method terms as the first ranking surface. The shape assumed is roughly 4Γ growth in Q2, then ~2.5Γ in Q3, then ~1.7Γ in Q4 as early posts age into rankings and the cluster compounds β a decelerating curve, which is the normal shape. The 2,500 sessions/month figure at Q4 is the end point of that assumed curve, not an independent estimate; it carries the accumulated error of every assumption above it and should be treated as the least reliable number in the table. The
Keywords ranking top 20row (15 / 50 / 110 / 180) is derived the same way β roughly 5 terms per published post reaching the top 20 by Q4, which is plausible for long-tail clusters and unverifiable today.Replace this table with real numbers as soon as GSC has 90 days of data. At that point the baseline stops being a guess, and these rows should be re-derived from measured impressions and average position rather than re-used. Until then, the only rows here that are genuinely controllable β and therefore the only ones worth managing against β are Posts published and
/methodorganic clicks vs. its own baseline.
| Metric | Baseline (Aug 2026) | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | Status |

+75 | +300 | +550 | +800 | β οΈ Unvalidated; also depends on an unconfirmed platform |
| Keywords ranking top 20 | ~0 | 15 | 50 | 110 | 180 | β οΈ Unvalidated planning assumption |
/method organic clicks/mo |
Phase 0 GSC export for /about-the-science |

Quarterly review, first week of the quarter: kill or rewrite anything with zero impressions after 90 days; expand anything ranking positions 4β15 (that is where the fastest gains live); refresh the two live cornerstones; re-time the next quarter against actual river conditions.
KEYWORD RESEARCH.MDKeyword Research.md (187 keywords, 4 clusters, 13 sub-clusters) was published after this calendar was drafted. The two documents agree on strategy β both independently concluded that the authority cluster is uncontested, the local cluster is not, and the neurodivergence sub-cluster is the most underserved opportunity on the board. This section records the mapping and the specific adjustments to apply when drafting.
| Content pillar | Primary cluster | Sub-clusters served | Keywords in range |
|---|---|---|---|
| π§ The Method | Cluster 3 β Authority/Method β | 3A trout cognition Β· 3B lies Β· 3C refusals Β· 3F learning science | ~45 |
| ποΈ Yakima & Central WA | Cluster 1 β Local/Transactional | 1A Yakima core Β· 1B Cle Elum geo Β· 1C other waters Β· 1D trip modifiers | ~51 |
| π£ Technique & Craft | Clusters 2 + 3 | 2A casting instruction Β· 3B lies Β· 3C refusals Β· 3D streamer | ~35 |
| π¬ The Human Side | Clusters 2 + 3 | 3E neurodivergence/mental health β Β· 2D audience-specific Β· 2E objections | ~22 |
Cluster 4 (Brand/Entity, 22 keywords) is not served by the blog β it is handled by the technical fixes and entity pages in Site Architecture Review.md Β§7 Phase 1. Do not write blog posts targeting brand terms.
| # | Post | Change | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | #5 β The Method, Explained | Promote how to think like a trout (#98) to co-primary alongside trout psychology method. Add trout behavior, fly fishing psychology as secondary. |
#98 is the keyword research's top quick win and the anchor of the entire authority cluster. The post and the /method/think-like-a-trout page must not compete β the page is the ranking target, the post is its highest-value supporting asset and should link to it with exact-match anchor. |
| 2 | #34 β Low and Clear (or #22) | Add cle elum fly fishing, suncadia fly fishing, roslyn wa fly fishing as secondary keywords; name the towns in the body. |
Sub-cluster 1B is the one local geography Red's Fly Shop does not defend hard β the research calls suncadia fly fishing guide the sleeper term. The blog should reinforce the location pages, not ignore the geography. |
| 3 | #11, #13, #15, #35 (the virtual-lessons cluster) | Ensure each links to /learn/virtual-casting-lessons with anchor text drawn from sub-cluster 2B: "virtual fly casting lesson," "online casting instruction," "video casting analysis." |
2B is 11 keywords pointing at the $250/mo recurring product with thin SERPs and no productized competitor. One page can own most of the sub-cluster; four posts feeding it accelerates that. |
| 4 | #16 β Neurodivergent-Friendly Instruction | Keep as written, but do not draft until Kristen signs off on scope and wording (Keyword Research Β§10 item 3, and /method/neurodiversity-informed-instruction must exist first). Add fly fishing lessons for autistic adults as secondary. |
Sub-cluster 3E is 12 keywords with effectively zero competition, but the research explicitly gates it on client sign-off. Publishing this without approval would be a real mistake. |
| 5 | #17, #33 (trout cognition + refusals) | These map directly to sub-clusters 3A and 3C. Pull 3β4 additional long-tail terms from each sub-cluster into the secondary keyword sets and structure them as H2 questions. | Both are "VL-demand, zero-competition method terms" β low volume individually, but a single well-built page owns 5β10 of them at once, and they carry Low AI risk. |
| 6 | All Yakima head-term posts (#14, #22) | Set expectations accordingly: do not promise Q1 rankings. | Research is explicit β Red's Fly Shop holds yakima river fly fishing with years of links. #14 exists as an internal link hub and entity builder first, a ranking play second. Long-tail and Method terms win first; head terms are contested later from established authority. |
The keyword research's build order (Β§9) and Site Architecture Review.md Β§7 both put page work before content work. Respect that sequence:
| Must ship before | Because |
|---|---|
| Any post | /journal + the four category pages must exist β live Fri Sep 18, 2026 (Site Architecture Phase 1.7, Week 2). This is why the first post publishes Tue Sep 22, not Sep 1. (The 429 crawler issue previously listed here is closed: Verified not to affect Googlebot (Aug 27, 2026). Confirm once via Search Console β Settings β Crawl stats; no longer a gating issue.) |
| Post #5 (Tue Oct 20) | β
Resolved. /method and /method/think-like-a-trout must be live β the post is a supporting asset, not a substitute. /method/think-like-a-trout is built in Phase 1.6 (Weeks 1β2) and /method goes live in Tranche A2, week of Oct 12 β pulled forward out of Tranche D expressly so the hub precedes the post. If Gate A2 has not closed by Fri Oct 16, slip this post a week rather than publishing against a URL Google has not indexed. |
| Post #9 (Nov 24) | /method/river-journaling live + the journal template PDF built. |
| Posts #11, #13 (DecβJan) | /learn/virtual-casting-lessons live. This is the winter revenue path. |
| Post #12 (Dec 15) | /gift-certificates optimized β the keyword research wants this live by Oct 1, well ahead of the post. |
| Post #16 (Feb 2) | /method/neurodiversity-informed-instruction live and Kristen's sign-off obtained. |
| Post #28 (Jun 1) | /trips/group-retreats live β redirected from /educational-fly-fishing-retreats (the live page), not /waretreats, which 404s. Tranche B, Weeks 7β8. |
Per the keyword research, these are page work, not blog work β they belong to the architecture and service-page tracks:
Organization/Person schema, disambiguation FAQnear me and map-pack terms (~15) β hard-blocked on GBP claim + published address. No amount of content unblocks these.yakima river fly fishing report β requires a sustained weekly cadence through a full season, which is a different commitment than this 3-posts-per-month calendar. Discuss separately before promising it.Companion deliverable: Site Architecture Review.md (Phase 1). The four pillars above map 1:1 to the /journal categories defined in that document's Β§3.2. Do not publish posts until the /journal structure exists β that is Fri Sep 18, 2026, which is why the first post is Tue Sep 22.
π Shared calendar anchor: Week 0 = week of Aug 31, 2026. This document and Site Architecture Review.md Β§7 resolve every week number against it. If either re-times, re-check both.
